Identifies professional development needs, facilitates training, and conducts in-service sessions. Additionally, Clinical Educator requires certification as an instructor for both ACLS and BLS. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Education Creates an effective learning environment by assessing learner characteristics, including learning styles and learning needs for program development. Provides consultation, guidance and support to leadership, preceptors and orientees; and collaborates with other healthcare team members to facilitate orientee transition to practice Oversees and coordinates education activities and programs of assigned areas. Provides just in time training as educational needs arise. Develops, implements and evaluates staff competencies. Functions in the roles of both teacher and facilitator. Restructures education plan based on evaluation plan for program and projects. Plans programs that are culturally relevant and incorporate concepts of multicultural and multigenerational education. 2. Leadership Serves as a liaison for staff, multidisciplinary team and leadership. Supports staff by promoting a positive work environment and encourages professional behaviors. Promotes and supports shared decision making councils by assisting with communication and education. Uses organizational strategic plan and goals to determine educational priorities. Demonstrates effective oral and written communication and uses effective interpersonal skills. Functions as a change agent in promoting educational outcomes through problem solving and critical thinking. 3. Program/Project Management and Collaboration Plans and implements programs and projects using innovation and creativity. Practices cost effective use of resources and makes recommendations for improved utilization. Serves as a resource to individuals, groups, and organizations as a subject matter expert. Collaborates with other educators, leadership and staff to develop, implement and/or evaluation organizational anddepartmental orientation programs, annual departmental education plans as determined by needs assessment. 4. Evidence-based Practice Utilizes performance improvement to evaluate the effectiveness of educational approaches in achieving staff competency and patient outcomes Participates in and incorporates evidence-based practice as a mentor and collaborator. Integrates scope and standards of nationally recognized guidelines into clinical practice. Uses outcome measurements and outcome evaluation methods. 5. Professional Development Accepts personal responsibility for own professional development and nursing practice. Promotes participation in professional organizations and achieving certification for self and others. Mentors nurses in their professional development and links them to relevant resources. Maintains clinical expertise in providing direct patient care. Role models participation in community activities. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Required - Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university - Field of Study: BSN Preferred - Master's degree or equivalent degree - Field of Study: MSN EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Required - 3 years total experience required, which includes 3 years of RN experience with demonstrated teaching experience CERTIFICATION / LICENSE / REGISTRY REQUIREMENTS Required - RN License (AR or Compact State) (Candidate must possesss at time of hire) Required - Specialty certification within 6 months of exam eligibility (Certification) (Candidate must possesss at time of hire) SKILL REQUIREMENTS Required - Demonstrated communication (written and oral), problem-solving, leadership and collaborative skills.
