Healthcare Account Specialist, Hospital Collections
Location: UCHealth UCHlth Harmony Campus 2315 Harmony, US:CO: Fort Collins
Department: UCHlth Gov Hospital Collection
FTE: Full Time, 1.0, 80.00 hours per pay period (2 weeks)
Shift: Days
Pay: $19.67 - $25.57 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience
Summary
Prepares, reviews, and submits patient account billing.
Responsibilities- Prepares bills in the paper and/or electronic format designated by departmental and payor guidelines. Transmits bills to appropriate third party payors and responsible parties.
- Reviews bills for accuracy, including proper diagnosis and procedure codes. Reviews bill rejections and issues. Collaborates internally and with payors to resolve billing issues. Responds to patient billing inquiries.
- Documents billing activities in patient account records. Maintains documentation of claims processed as part of the daily claims reconciliation process.
- Prepares and reviews routine billing reports to ensure timely and accurate billing activity. Refers uncollected balances to appropriate collections/accounts receivable staff for follow up.
- Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1 year related experience
- Hospital Collections experience
