The Collections Specialist is responsible for billing, tracking, and collecting cost share and/or copays from individuals as part of the company’s financial management services contracts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and bookkeeping, as well as a keen interest in financial management and healthcare billing practices.
o Generate and send out participant invoices, cost shares, and copay statements in a timely manner.
o Maintain accurate and up-to-date billing records for each individual.
o Follow up with participants to collect outstanding balances through various communication channels, including phone, email, and mail
o Receive and process payments from patients, including checks, credit card payments, and electronic funds transfers.
o Ensure that payments are accurately recorded and posted to the appropriate accounts.
o Reconcile patient accounts to resolve discrepancies and billing errors.
o Investigate and resolve any issues related to unpaid or partially paid claims.
o Prepare regular reports on accounts receivable, including aging reports and collection status.
o Provide detailed financial information to management as needed for decision-making.
o Stay up-to-date with healthcare billing regulations, including HIPAA and other relevant compliance standards.
o Maintain detailed and organized records of patient interactions and collection efforts.
o Provide excellent customer service by addressing participant inquiries and concerns regarding their billing statements.
o Educate participants on their financial responsibilities and payment options.
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or related field preferred
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office products is necessary, specifically Microsoft Excel
