  • Role:

    Works closely with the loan team, preparing files to be scanned into the system for consumer, mortgage, and business lending. Assists members with loan requests. Provides clerical and administrative support. This is an entry level position.

    Essential functions and responsibilities:

    • Assists business development officer with collecting and reviewing documents necessary to underwrite and close business loans. Reviews loan documentation for completeness and accuracy.
    • Works closely with our mortgage department to do clerical tasks, including but not limited to, escrow, HMDA reporting, Collateral Protection Insurance (CPI) reporting, mortgage discharges, and other monthly reporting.
    • Prepares all necessary documents for business loan closings. Files loan documents with appropriate agencies.
    • Maintains and audits business loan files for accuracy and integrity including collection of annual business and personal financial statements and tax returns.
    • Interviews members in person or by telephone to assist them in preparing loan applications. Obtains personal and financial information.
    • Enters and maintains accurate loan information on computer operating system and prepares required reports for management.
    • Supports loan team with clerical duties and performs other job related duties as assigned.
    • Identifies opportunities to cross-sell new or additional services or products to members.

    Performance measurements:

    1. Produce accurate and complete loan documentation and reports.

    2. Maintain complete and well-organized files and records. Submit required reports by established deadlines.

    3. Ensure compliance with all applicable Credit Union policies, procedures, and regulations.

    4. Provide informed, prompt, accurate service, and support to all members and associates. Troubleshoot and resolve member and internal inquiries in a timely and accurate manner, communicating the resolution to affected parties.

    5. Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of Credit Union loan products, policies, procedures, standards, and applicable state and federal government rules and regulations.

    6. Maintain a professional work environment and businesslike appearance.

    Knowledge and Skills:

    Experience: One to three years of similar or related experience

    Education: (1) A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.

    Interpersonal Skills: Work involves contact with persons beyond immediate associates regarding routine matters for the purpose of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion. Outside contacts take the form of service to the public (members or vendors), requiring ordinary courtesy in providing assistance and information.

    Other Skills: Must be able to jump from task to task and comfortable with interruptions. General office equipment such as calculators, computers, photocopiers, and scanners. Demonstrates carefulness about detail and thoroughness in completing work tasks. Working knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, managing files and records, and designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.

    Physical Requirements: Ability to sit for long periods of time. Ability to spend long periods of time looking at a computer screen. Repetitive movement frequently required using wrist, hands and fingers. Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
