    Job Description



    This position will perform a variety of technical program activities and assignments for professional or management staff in support of the Women and Maternal Health Section. The Technician is responsible for managing the coordination and maintenance of the Michigan Doula Registry, including ongoing updates and maintenance as well as coordinate review and documentation of projects with the Women and Maternal Health Section. The Technician may perform and oversee a variety of general assignments in which the processing of documents and the recording, retrieving, and distribution of data or information is an essential and/or substantial part of the work.

    Education

    Education typically acquired through completion of high school.

    Experience

    Departmental Technician 7
    One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 7-level in state service.

    Departmental Technician 8
    One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 8-level in state service.

    OR

    One year of experience as a technician or paraprofessional equivalent to the entry level in state service.

    Departmental Technician E9
    One year of experience as a supervisor of administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.

    OR

    One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.

    OR

    Two years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate level in state service.

    Alternate Education and Experience

    Departmental Technician (Trainee) 7
    Two years of experience in a 7 level or higher non-administrative support ECP Group One classification.

    OR

    One year of experience as a first-line supervisor in an ECP Group Three classification.

    Departmental Technician 7
    Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits) may be substituted for the experience requirement.

    Departmental Technician 8
    Possession of a Bachelor’s degree may be substituted for the experience requirement.

    Departmental Technician E9
    Possession of a Bachelor’s degree and one year of job-related experience may be substituted for the experience requirement.

    Additional Requirements and Information

    Position Location/Remote Office: The physical location of this position is 320 S. Walnut, Floor 5-N, Lansing MI. Based on operational needs and within established limits, remote work and alternate or hybrid work schedule requests for this position may be considered.

    Selected candidates who have been approved to work remotely or a hybrid schedule must complete that work within Michigan. Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview.
    Employees will be provided computers to perform state work. Phones may also be provided for necessary communications. If working remotely, employees will be responsible for providing other components of a remote office at their own expense, including:

    • A secure work location that allows privacy and prevents distractions.
    • A high-speed internet connection of at least 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.
    • Suitable lighting, furniture, and utilities.

    Vacation and Sick Leave: Eligible full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 personal days and 13 sick days per year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.

    Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leave immediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.

    Paid Holidays: Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
