Community Development Manager manages the economic development lending activities to support or subsidize improvements in the community. Ensures company visibility is established in the area and promotes relationships with groups, agencies, and organizations in the community to identify lending and other business development opportunities. Being a Community Development Manager evaluates the current and future credit needs of the community and develops a strong understanding of the local issues and needs. Actively monitors public programs that support community development initiatives. Additionally, Community Development Manager initiates policy changes or enhancements to ensure compliance with Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) and other regulations. Makes recommendations to expand and develop lending programs. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Community Development Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Community Development Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Community Development Manager - Toledo

  • Lead the development and execution of girl / adult membership recruitment and retention plans in assigned service units to achieve annual membership goals, using methods that reflect the strengths of the community.   Provide ongoing support to administrative volunteers to enable them to extend and support the Girl Scout experience, through a variety of opportunities and across all pathways.    Increase Girl Scout visibility and engagement in the community through community networking and collaboration.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    1. Drive membership growth in service units by developing and implementing comprehensive recruitment and retention plans for girls/ adults in troops, volunteer led series, Girl Scouting in the School Day and other opportunities based on community attributes and in alignment with council recruitment and retention strategies.
    2. Implement volunteer program management to ensure excellent support and customer service to volunteers and parents through communication, education and recognition to support achievement of council program and customer experience targets.
    3. Develop and implement a comprehensive community plan for each service unit that engages and prepares volunteers, parents and community organizations to provide girls with a high quality, progressive Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
    4. Cultivate and collaborate with local schools, community organizations and networks to increase visibility and opportunities for girls, recruit volunteers, and increase program and funding partnerships to meet council objectives.
    5. Provides support to Council strategic initiatives including circles, product sales, camp and fund development efforts through department and project team work

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
    This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

    POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
    This is a full-time position.  The days of work are primarily Monday through Friday, but evening work is frequent and occasional weekend work may be required. Hours of work will vary, depending on support required by service units and time of year.  Work schedules are flexible but will be approximately 40-45 hours/week.

    TRAVEL
    This is an “in the field” position requiring regular travel to assigned geographic areas of the council. 

    REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
    1. Bachelor's degree or any combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
    2. Experience recruiting and managing volunteers.
    3. Experience in recruitment and or sales preferred.
    4. Experience in community development including school partnerships.
    5.  Proficient in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
    ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
    Must possess a valid state driver's license and functioning vehicle for work within the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio region. Successful completion of fingerprinting and a criminal background check as required by Ohio law. Commitment to making a difference in girls’ lives as expressed in the Ends statements; mission and goals for girls, as noted in the Board Policy Manual.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
