    Position Description

    The Medical Director works under the supervision of the CEO to ensure the highest level of clinical quality and patient care at Community Health Service Inc. The Medical Director has the responsibility of overseeing and managing the clinical performance of clinical providers across the clinic system. The Medical Director supports the creation and implementation of medical policies and procedures at the four clinical sites. They will work alongside the CEO to evaluate current standards of clinical care and inform providers and staff of new treatments and medical innovations. They will also ensure the implementation of clinical quality improvement standards and oversee chart audits. The Medical Director is to be a role model to other clinicians for clinical quality, positive interactions, problem-solving, ethical conduct, and professionalism. As a clinical leadership position, the Medical Director will be expected to demonstrate for providers and staff routine self-inventory of implicit bias, recognizing the impact that bias can have in contributing to health disparities. The Consulting Medical Director will work solely in a clinical administrative capacity for 16h/week. The ideal candidate for this position will have experience as a medical director in the FQHC setting and have demonstrated excellence in the direct supervision and support of healthcare services of all providers, including medical, dental, mental health, and community outreach.

    Specific Duties And Responsibilities

    Clinical Administrative Management

    • Direct, supervise, and support the provision of health care services of all providers.
    • Adhere to approved practice standards and protocols from the MN and ND Board of Medicine
    • Responsible for ensuring the development and implementation of the Center's Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement Plan.
    • Work with the QI manager and IT Manager to Develop optimal templates, accelerators, and other workflows for the Electronic Health Record.
    • Establish and ensure the achievement of clinical performance goals and process improvement.
    • Ensure that the clinical operations of the Center are responsive to the requirements of the Governing Board and Administration.
    • Develop policies and protocols for clinical processes and patient management
    • Orient, educate, and counsel clinical staff on Center protocols, processes, policies, and procedures.
    • Ensure receipt of a quarterly report to the Governing Board on the utilization of services, clinical performance measures, and process improvement initiatives.
    • Participate in external audits and site visits.
    • Ensure provider compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
    • Conduct peer review activities to assess provider competence and performance.
    • Monitor resource and referral utilization within the clinic system and assist in identifying additional resources to improve provider and patient access to specialty care. Help to create standards and standard procedures for the most common referrals.
    • Actively facilitate, participate, and support team training in patient-centered care coordination.
    • Assist the site manager in annual performance appraisals of clinicians at their site
    • Represent the Center at professional organization meetings and training.
    • Coordinate with other staff to ensure effective and efficient Center operations.
    • Foster an environment that promotes trust, cooperation, and accountability among all Center staff.
    • Attend and participate in meetings as required or requested.
    • Perform other duties and assist with special projects as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Meet and maintain all criteria for CHSI's Provider Credentialing/Privileges
    • Current BLS certification.
    • Unrestricted ability to obtain Medicare, Medicaid, and other payor credentialing.
    • Current, valid, and unrestricted State of Minnesota or North Dakota medical licensure.

    Education And/Or Experience

    • Completion of a M.D. or D.O. degree from a U.S. accredited medical school, school of osteopathy medicine, or FMG with ECFMG or Fifth pathway certification, with completion of a US accredited residency program in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.
    • At least three years of recent experience in outpatient primary care practice.
    • Previous management or leadership experience
    • Experience in a FQHC setting preferred
