Compliance Investigator conducts investigations of alleged violations of the corporation's ethical standards or non-compliance with applicable laws, regulations and corporate policy. Ensures that investigations follow the approved process, are lawfully and objectively conducted, are thorough in gathering all material facts and present an accurate accounting of the issues. Being a Compliance Investigator presents clear, concise, and factual reports that enable fair and relevant decisions to be made. Recommends proactive measures that will reduce the risk of similar future incidents. Additionally, Compliance Investigator typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. May require a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) certification. The Compliance Investigator contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. We are currently seeking a Biologist -Environmental Compliance Specialist to work in our Albuquerque, New Mexico office.
We are in search of a highly motivated team member to join our family of engineers and scientists who has a strong interest and skillset including multi-tasking skills in order to support a wide variety of challenging and complex water resources projects in the southwest and throughout the nation. There are also opportunities for future advancement in this position.
Your Role:
- Assisting team members with conducting field surveys for vegetation, wildlife, and wildlife habitat
- Evaluating field survey findings to develop environmental permit documentation
- Completing permit documentation based upon experience with: Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, and National Environmental Policy Act
- Stream, river, wetland, and riparian restoration planning
- Performing wetland delineations
- GIS based mapping and analysis
- Management of projects including leading technical components, planning and leading field surveys
- Project management including tracking budgets and client coordination
- Assist in business development for biological/environmental work
Qualifications:
- BS in Biology/Natural Resources and at least 3-5 years of professional experience (or more) OR
- MS in Biology/Natural Resources and at least 2-3 years of professional experience in environmental science including surveying, monitoring and permitting, delineation of wetlands, and restoration
- Experience preparing reports, NEPA, CWA and ESA documentation;
- Knowledge of local plant, fish and/or wildlife species and their habitat requirements;
- Experience developing habitat assessment, mitigation and/or monitoring plans;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Experience with GIS;
- Experience with field data collection equipment including GPS
