    The North Carolina Department of Revenue is recruiting for a Payment Processing Associate to work in our Submissions Processing Division (SPD). To support the tax laws of North Carolina, the mission of the SPD is to receive and process taxpayer submissions consistently, efficiently, and effectively, while ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of that data. Our vision is to be a Division that meets its quality targets, one that sets a high standard for other Divisions, and one that leads innovation for the Agency. The submissions processed by SPD account for well over 90% of total annual revenues collected and over 11 million total tax returns processed by the Agency.

    The qualified candidate will determine the correct tax criteria and data to enter on tax vouchers they create timely and accurately according to the divisional goals. The other associated functions that are required are to deposit checks timely and allow payments to process through the Scanning team XDS scanners and post to the Department’s Integrated Tax Administration System (ITAS). Additional duties of the team include determining the correct method to prepare returns and payments that cannot go through the scanners or other data capture platforms.
     
    Overtime and vacation leave restrictions may be required during peak periods.
    A skills assessment using various Microsoft Office products will be administered as part of the interview process.
