Overview
The Group Leader assists the department supervisor by taking charge of assigned personnel and performing departmental responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily production within assigned area.
- May assign and prioritize work.
- May assist, track and record employee training.
- Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
- Ensure that orders leave department in a timely manner.
- Participate in disciplinary actions when appropriate.
- Implement policies, programs and directives of senior management.
- Make recommendations for staff and have significant input into personnel matters.

- Read, comprehend and follow product and packaging specifications and
manufacturing instructions.
Perform visual, dimensional and functional inspections on components,
sub-assemblies or finished devices to assure compliance with the written
specifications and / or drawings.
Complete and review necessary documentation including, but not limited to :
incoming documentation, work orders and procedures.
- Maintain harmony and cohesiveness within the department.
- Report operations through Daily Management and up to Tier 2.
- Analyze and suggest / support improvements.
- Identify and report possible corrective actions and preventative actions.
- Must work and interact effectively and professionally with and for others
throughout various levels of the global organization.
- Supervisory responsibilities in the supervisor's absence.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Must maintain company quality and quantity standards.
- Good verbal communication and ability to work as a team.
- Excellent problem solving skills and ability to work in collaborative and
independent work situations and environments with minimal supervision.
- Ability to remain calm and receptive in fast paced situations.
- Responsible for compliance to company's Quality Policy Manual.
- Responsible for compliance to company's safety policies.
Qualifications
- Must have a high school diploma / GED and pass post offer drug screen.
- Must have previous Cook experience.
- Ability to read, write and understand product documentation and specification drawings and to accurately complete paperwork
- Ability to use measuring devices and gauges.
- Awareness of basic Continuous Improvement tools and concepts.
- Lean Manufacturing Training / Certification recommended.
- Perform basic math skills and applications- addition, subtraction, multiplication and division including the ability to understand decimals.
- Basic computer entry / retrieval skills.
- Good judgment and organizational skills.
- Must have well-developed eye-hand coordination.
Physical Requirements :
- Good manual dexterity.
- Ability to occasionally lift a maximum of 40 pounds.
- Majority of day spent in Controlled Environment with special gowning /
clothing and hygiene requirements.
- Required use of safety glasses.
- Limited exposure to hazardous chemicals used in manufacturing of
products.
