    Key Responsibilities

    • Policy Development and Implementation:
      • Develop and implement compliance policies, procedures, and protocols specific to the medical clinic's needs.
      • Review clinical and non-clinical policies and procedures across the organization.
    • HIPAA Privacy Oversight:
      • Act as the HIPAA Privacy Officer and oversee the medical record request process.
    • Audit and Monitoring:
      • Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, Conflicts of Interest, Fraud, Waste, and Abuse regulations.
      • Oversee third-party billing audits to ensure adherence to relevant rules and regulations.
      • Perform regular audits and assessments to identify compliance risks and areas for improvement, including billing, coding, patient privacy, and quality of care.
    • Collaboration and Corrective Action:
      • Work with clinic management and staff to address compliance issues and implement necessary corrective actions.
      • Investigate allegations of non-compliance, including fraud, waste, or abuse, and take appropriate disciplinary or corrective measures.
    • Training and Education:
      • Provide training and education to clinic staff on compliance-related topics, such as HIPAA regulations, fraud prevention, and documentation requirements.
    • Documentation and Reporting:
      • Maintain detailed documentation of compliance activities, including audit findings, investigations, training sessions, and policy updates.
      • Prepare reports for clinic management and governing bodies on compliance activities, trends, and outcomes.
    • Regulatory Liaison:
      • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, responding to inquiries, information requests, and audits.
      • Develop and maintain relationships with external partners, such as legal counsel, professional organizations, and industry associations, to stay informed of best practices and emerging compliance issues.
    • Leadership and Participation:
      • Lead or participate in compliance committees and initiatives to promote a culture of compliance and ethical behavior within the clinic.
      • Stay current on industry trends and developments in healthcare compliance through ongoing professional development and networking.
    Qualifications

    • Education:
      • Law degree, Bachelor's degree, or Master’s in healthcare administration, business administration, or a related field is required.
    • Experience:
      • Minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare compliance, preferably in a clinic or outpatient setting.
      • Certification in healthcare compliance (e.g., FACHE, HCCA, CHC, CHPC) is preferred.
      • Experience with Medicare/Medicaid billing and coding is preferred.
    • Skills and Knowledge:
      • Thorough understanding of healthcare laws and regulations, including HIPAA, Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, and Medicare/Medicaid regulations.
      • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
      • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to educate and influence staff at all levels.
      • Proficiency in using compliance software and tools for tracking, reporting, and documentation.
      • Leadership abilities, including the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and drive change.
      • Commitment to ethical conduct and integrity in healthcare operations.
      • Ability to adapt to a dynamic healthcare environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
    • Work Conditions:
