Starting salary in 2024 for an entry-level correctional officer is approximately $51,459 in the first year, $55,474 after a year of service, and $61,298 by five years of service. Experienced correctional officers may be eligible to start at a higher wage, depending on their experience.

The Champaign County Jail is a 24/7, 365 days/year operation. A candidate must be willing to work a variety of shifts with a variety of days off, per the FOP Collective Bargaining Contract. Shift signup is based on seniority.
