OVERVIEW
Our client is an established non-profit trade association leader, being a voice for a multi-billion-dollar industry. With many chapters across the nation, they help advance the industry through advocacy, education, research, and standards development. They are seeking a capable and driven Accounting Supervisor to join their Accounting and Finance team.
ABOUT THE POSITION
This position will report to the Controller, oversee all AP, AR, and billing, perform the month-end close process, direct report management, and participate in day-to-day accounting tasks. These will include analysis of costs, budgets, operational policies, trends, and profit areas. Additional duties will include transaction recording, balance sheet account reconciliations, and assisting the Controller with implementing and establishing controls and process improvement efforts. The ideal candidate should be an experienced accounting professional, ideally from a 501(c)(6) or 501(c)(3) Non-Profit, with an Association industry background.

- Compensation: $48/HR – $52/HR

DUTIES
Accounting Responsibilities:
- Ensure all activity on bank statements is posted to the general ledger.
- Prepare and file the monthly FEC report for the PAC; Prepare and submit the sales & use tax filing.
- Provide instruction to staff on how to handle non-routine/complex transactions.
- Provide training and guidance to new and existing staff as needed.
- Lead the month-end close process and participate in various day-to-day accounting duties as needed.
- Monitor and analyze the accounting team’s workload to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources, while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- In collaboration with the Controller, implement internal controls and improve accounting processes.
- Support the Controller with financial analysis, financial statement preparation, and other tasks as needed.
AP/AR Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervise AP and AR accountants, including managing their KPIs, performance reviews, and mentorship.
- Review and approve expense reimbursements and direct deposit payments using Concur and submit ACH payments.
- Review invoices using a web-based A/P system, print checks, and submit Positive Pay files.
- Set up and post wire transfers, complete institutional bank transfers, and process stop payments and voids.
- Process online payments for two corporate credit cards and review account coding.
- Provide daily bank reports to A/R staff, review EFT files for receipt submittal, and create invoices based on contracts.
- Review coding and recording of all cash receipts from all revenue sources.
Knowledge Base / Skills:
- Strong GAAP accounting experience (general ledger, consolidations, reconciliations, compliance, etc.).
- Working knowledge of data collection, data analysis, and evaluation.
- Ability to perform and complete complex accounting tasks accurately and within deadlines.
- Ability to wear many hats and to adapt to change within a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills, written and verbal communication skills, and people management capabilities.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- 5 years of accounting experience within the non-profit industry is required.
- 2 years of direct report management experience is required.
- Preferred (not required): Experience with SAP Concur, MS Dynamics GP, and CPA designation.
