  • The Nome Trial Court of the Alaska Court System (ACS) seeks a dependable and detail-oriented individual to become a Court Case Manager 2 (range 12).  This position handles a variety of clerical and technical functions in support of the Civil division.

    The Position
    Civil duties will include receiving a variety of court forms, verifying completeness of filings, and accepting fees as appropriate.  The incumbent will set up case files, enter computer data, and issue process in the form of summons, warrants, and orders to show cause. Additional duties include calendaring civil hearings and jury trials as required, review audit reports, disburse funds, and assist other staff members as needed.
     
    In-court duties will include preparing the courtroom for hearings, receive and mark exhibits, maintain witness lists, calendaring necessary hearings, and prepare and distribute court paperwork. The incumbent will be responsible for keeping accurate log notes and ensuring a clear recording of the hearing is produced. This position is responsible for drawing juror/grand juror names, swearing in jurors, and maintaining good communication during trials with the jury clerk.
     
     
    The Work Hours
    Full-time court employees are currently scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week. The work hours for this position are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break.
     
     
    The Work Environment
    The Nome Trial Court is located on 5th Avenue and provides easy access to stores or to enjoy a walk on your lunch break.  When fully staffed, the clerk’s office includes four staff full-time staff and one part-time Court Case Managers 2 under the supervision of the Clerk of Court.  As a Court Case Manager 2, you will become a part of the Nome Trial Court helping to fulfill the mission of the Alaska Court System.

    Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND one year of advanced clerical work experience equivalent to a Court Case Manager 1 with the Alaska Court System or an equivalent position with another employer AND the ability to keyboard at least 40 words per minute (net).

    KEYBOARDING CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
    Attach a recent keyboarding certification (dated within one year) to your application that verifies your keyboarding speed of 40 wpm or higher (net). Online keyboarding tests (often at no cost) are accepted with a valid website address noted on the document.  Acceptable websites include: www.ratatype.com and www.typingtest.com.

    WORK HISTORY
