PURPOSE

Operates boom and / or crane to move heavy construction material into specific areas of the yard or onto delivery truck, including rigging, planning and hoisting.

Inspects and maintains boom / crane equipment in order to ensure safety and prevent damage to equipment and surrounding structures.

Note : If employee is a CDL Driver that transports material to customer site and also operates a boom or crane attached to the truck, move employee into either job code 280268 - Driver CDL - Boom / Crane or 280269 - Sr Driver CDL - Boom / Crane.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operates boom including rigging, planning and hoisting of a variety of heavy construction materials; performs pre-operational inspection and maintenance of boom / crane.
• Moves material into specific areas of the yard or hoist material onto the delivery truck.
• Calculates the boom / crane capacities and weights and checks clearances so that buildings, hydro wires and foundation of the machine will not be damaged during operation.
• Plans and paces own work efficiency in order to meet daily, weekly, project, or team related productivity goals.
• Understands and observes all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or co-workers; attends periodic safety meetings as required;

may recommend changes to improve safety procedures.

Other duties may be assigned.

COMPETENCIES

• Knowledge of and ability to use hand and power tools
• Knowledge of basic math and measurement skills
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
• Ability to read and understand machine and equipment diagrams and system schematics
• ProBuild Boom / Crane Operator certification

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and two (2) years boom and / or crane operation experience, or equivalent combination of education, training or experience.

Requires Boom or Crane Operator certification.
