Credit and Collections Director leads the overall credit function. Designs and implements processes to improve cash flow and reduce receivables. Being a Credit and Collections Director develops policies regarding the investigation of customers, extension of credit lines, and collections. Consults with current and future clients regarding their level of credit. Additionally, Credit and Collections Director oversees the negotiation and course of action taken for overdue accounts. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Credit and Collections Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Credit and Collections Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     We are looking for a Collections Associate to join our team! Our Collections team will work in two offices: The Administrative office currently located in Laplace, La. and a location in Metairie off of the Service Road.

    The initial pay range for this position is $17 - $20/per hour, based on knowledge and experience, with the potential to grow in the department and/or the organization.

    Major Duties And Responsibilities

    • Maintains accurate data on all delinquent accounts, repossessions, bankruptcy files, charge-offs, etc.
    • Assists the department with preparing and processing documents deemed necessary regarding repossession, legal action, foreclosure, as well as referrals to collection agency, CCCS notifications, and bankruptcy.
    • Processes and records department billings. Maintains Collection GL's and balance daily.
    • Manage exceptions for shares charged off in FIS and CU Recovery.
    • Assists in the preparation of attorney bills and research of accounts.
    • Manage credit disputes via eOscar, letters or member disputes.
    • Processes all bankruptcy payments in accordance with the Trustee' site to ensure payments are applied correctly.
    • Post all attorney corresponding costs associated with the attorney billing to the members loans/accounts.


    Experience

    Knowledge and Skills

    Six months to two years of similar or related experience, including time spent in preparatory positions.

    Education/Certifications/Licenses

    High School diploma or GED.

    Interpersonal Skills

    Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization, generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving and obtaining information, as well as advising or referring, which commonly require shorter discussions.

    Other Skills

    Proficiency in computer applications and other business equipment. Must have the ability to learn new programs and work in a professional manner. Must be able to work quickly, independently and accurately. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.

Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
