Credit Clerk evaluates and suggests creditworthiness of prospects and customers to decrease financial risk to the organization. Checks credit applications and grants approval within established guidelines for organizations or individuals. Being a Credit Clerk communicates with the customers and other departments to solve the credit problems. May negotiate terms of payment to assist with collection of overdue balances. Additionally, Credit Clerk requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Credit Clerk possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Accounting Clerk

  • MAJOR PURPOSE: To review, reconcile and analyze all items and functions associated with United Credit Union General Ledger Accounts.


    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Compare and adjust on-line payroll group listings with those received periodically from our payroll groups and authorize Data Processing to post to the members’ accounts
    • Perform special payroll posting procedures for CBOE employee groups
    • Interface with Information Processing and FRB to return unpostable ACH debits
    • Review, correct and post, or return unposted share draft exceptions daily
    • Review, correct and post, or return ACH Originations exception items daily
    • Review, correct and post ATM exceptions and adjustments daily
    • Report stop payments, closed accounts, copy requests, and lost/stolen checks via telephone, fax or internet
    • Know how to reconcile and balance the ATM machine reports
    • Be knowledgeable about share draft processing
    • Verify and file Tellers’ daily work
    • Verify that Tellers work and Branch reporting are in balance
    • Prepare periodic reports as defined by management
    • Serve as back-up to other members of the Accounting Department including Accounting Supervisor when necessary
    • Check Positive Pay for duplicate/suspect/fraudulent checks for decisioning
    • Check Bank Accounts for necessary transfers
    • Place Branch Consolidated Cash Order
    • Attend training meetings when necessary
    • Assist staff, members, auditors, and examiners with Accounting questions and problems
    • Be responsible for the proper filing and categorizing of all accounting and daily work
    • Other duties and functions that may be assigned by Management
    • Process and Review ACH Origination transaction daily
    • Process Forte Payments/Deposits
    • Pull and process FRB return checks
    • Process Incoming/Outgoing Wires including OFAC
    • Process payroll deduction cards
    • Process Share transfer agreements
    • Process Share Certificate Renewals/Closings
    • Renew Line of Credit secure Loans
    • Review disbursed Loans
    • Safe Deposit Boxes/Monthly Billing
    • Process unclaimed property, Vacation Club and Christmas Club
    • General Ledger Reconciliations
    • Balance Shared Branching
    • Other duties and functions that may be assigned by Management


    POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

    Education & Experience:

    • High School graduate or GED Certificate
    • Additional college course work related to accounting/bookkeeping is recommended
    • Minimum 7 years of credit union, banking, accounting or general business experience

    Knowledge/Skill/Abilities:

    • Excellent math skills and basic accounting knowledge
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills w/members and staff
    • Be able to work well with others
    • Good problem-solving techniques
    • Trustworthy and ability to work with integrity
    • Exhibit competency in using current technology, such as computer, calculator, etc. necessary to complete required and miscellaneous responsibilities
    • Know how to reconcile and balance the ATM machine reports
    • Knowledgeable about Share draft processing
    • Knowledge of credit union practice and regulations
    • Detail oriented and high degree of accuracy
    • Ability to problem solve and take initiative
    • Be reliable
    • Thorough understanding of bookkeeping practices and procedures
    • Excellent organizational ski.ls
    • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
    • Ability to type at least 40 wpm
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
    • Knowledge of spreadsheets and Accounting software


    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Nature of the work requires prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing at a desk working in front of a computer and operation standard office equipment. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

    WORKING ENVIRONMENT

    The majority of the work performed will be in an office environment.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

    None.
