BACKGROUND
ECS is seeking a full-time Data Analyst to support the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration/National Marine Fisheries Service (NOAA Fisheries), Seafood Import Monitoring Program (SIMP) in Pascagoula, MS. A well-qualified candidate will have experience in auditing or inspections, reviewing documents, and customer service. NOAA Fisheries conducts SIMP Chain of Custody audits. Documents for SIMP Chain of Custody audits are kept by importers and provided upon random selection and request. These documents are used by importers to substantiate entry data filled with U.S. Customs (e.g., ACE/ITDS), and shared with NOAA Fisheries by documenting the Chain of Custody of the species from harvest to point of entry into U.S. commerce.
OBJECTIVES
NOAA Fisheries requires timely review and entry of the data, auditing, quality control, and quality assurance of such data. This is paramount to ensuring data quality and to meet program objectives.
ACTIVITIES/DELIVERABLES
The SIMP Data Analyst will perform SIMP audits and activities to coordinate the SIMP audit process and Chain of Custody traceability review.
These activities include randomly selecting entries for audit, sending audit selection form letters to importers, receiving, organizing, and evaluating information in response to audit notices, and any follow-up communication with importers. Activities also include: 1) identifying and communicating problems and efficiency issues related to the auditing and data review, 2) navigating, locating, and providing feedback on programmatic documentation in NOAA Fisheries’ International Trade Data System (ITDS) interface, and 3) assisting with document preparations.
