As principal database administrator, you will be responsible for architecture build and maintain new and existing databases hosted in On-prem environments as well as cloud platforms. In addition, you will contribute towards the transformation journey of our solutions providing high level expertise in database field, proactive operational support and acting as liaison in representation of the team and PCI to warranty maximum level of satisfaction of our Internal and external clients.
Duties:
Troubleshoot
- Actively troubleshoot any issues that arise impacting the database environments
- Ability to monitor databases and analyze error logs
- Analyze queries and advice on efficiency and improvements
- Identify and resolve database locks and lack of statistics
- Resolve data structure issues (Invalid objects, tables, partitions, constraints)
- Deploy patches as required over the database environments
- Resolve Import/export data pump issues
Document
- Document service requests, changes, and incidents.
- Create and maintain diagrams, architectural documents, SOP’s and run books.
Collaborate
- Collaborating with dbas, developers, vendors, and professional organizations to deliver quality service
- Occasionally working after hours and weekends as emergencies, deployments
- Performing as subject matter expert for database implementations and projects
- Supporting internal and external customers, corporate IT, and vendor IT providing a high level of service and pushing projects to completion
Automate
- Automate operational processes as needed, with accuracy and in compliance with our security requirements.
Innovate
- Implement, optimize, and support highly scalable, highly available production infrastructure for different RDBMS (Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL)
- Update our processes and design new processes as needed.
- Developing and implementing strategies for database administration
- Developing solutions for monitoring and support database platforms
- R & D – Stay abreast of new technology
Requirements:

Experience
- 10 years’ experience working with databases in a corporate environment.
- 10 years’ experience with Oracle installation and support for Linux and Windows environments
- 10 years’ solid experience using Oracle data pump.
- 10 years' experience developing and supporting Linux scripting.
- 3 years’ experience in database security: User management, profiles, encryption, and audits
- 10 years’ performing database operational activities including but not limiting migrations, patching and database refresh.
- 2 years’ experience with PostgreSQL, SQL Server and/or MySQL
- 2 years’ hands on experience working with cloud providers: AWS (Must), Azure (A plus)
- hands on experience with cloud managed databases RDS, Aurora
- Hands on experience working with EC2 and Compute instances.
- Experience supporting and maintaining VLDB (Multi Terabytes)
- Knowledge of database high availability and disaster recovery methods for on premise and cloud deployments
- Experience with Partitioning
- Strong experience implementing and supporting backup and recovery strategies.
- Data Warehouse experience is a strong plus.
- Oracle OCA certification or higher is a strong plus.
- AWS Cloud practitioner certification is a strong plus.
- AWS Data Migration Services experience is a strong plus.
- ITIL foundation certification is a plus.
- AZURE fundamentals certification is a plus.
- OCI Foundations certification or higher is a plus.
Technologies
- Demonstrated experience with multiple RDBMS (Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL server, MySQL)
- Solid experience administering Oracle 12.1c and 19c databases.
- Exposure to SQL Server 2019
- Exposure to PostgreSQL: 10 and Aurora
- Cloud Service providers: AWS, Azure, OCI
- Experience using database tools for Cloud and On-premises environments: Enterprise Manager, Cloud Watch, Enhanced Monitoring, Performance insights, Toad, Oracle SQL Developer, Squirrel
- Experience using OS compression tools: Tar, zip, bzip2
- Oracle features: Partitioning, Compression, Tunning
- Support portals: MOS and AWS support
- Backup and recovery tools: Data Pump/RMAN
- Preferred experience with Linux-based infrastructures, Linux/Unix administration, and AWS
- Experience with languages such as Shell, Bash, SQL, PL/SQL, and Transact SQL
