Database Engineer plans, designs, develops, and manages an organization's databases to ensure efficient data storage, access, and security. Collaborates with users to design, code, test, debug, and deploy databases that meet requirements and organizational needs. Being a Database Engineer writes queries, stored procedures and functions for database development. Monitors databases' performance, scalability, and security and modifies procedures to optimize database designs. Additionally, Database Engineer evaluates existing database design to determine necessary updates, performance tuning, and integration requirements. Possesses comprehensive knowledge of database technologies and solid coding and computer system skills. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Database Engineer work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. To be a Database Engineer typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. Position Requirements- Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or software engineering from an accredited college or university, or equivalent work experience.
- Data Warehouse experience and ETL experience for a dimensional warehouse is required
- 8 or more years working in some capacity as a Data Engineer, Database Developer, etc.
- Extensive experience with data warehousing and dimensional modeling
- 8 or more years creating and modify databases and database objects
- Experience with SQL Server 2017
- Snowflake experience
- Sigma experience, preferred
- Report building experience
- Deep experience in authoring your own and tuning other’s SQL/T-SQL; explains mechanics and benefits of recommendations
- Azure Data Factory Experience.
- Deploying and administering SSIS packages, troubleshooting execution issues including analyzing package, and making appropriate changes
- Experience with high volume, large databases. Our systems do over a billion transactions yearly.
- SSIS development
- Source control experience

- Executes tasks as directed and knows how to engage team members to resolve questions
- Can plan complex tasks, and document and explain plans.
- Experience with Sigma is a plus
- Interested in new technology, database systems and tools, with proactive research to bring proposals to the team for new technology directions and solutions
