Dean of Education jobs in Ohio
Dean of Education manages administrative functions of the college of education. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Education leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Education requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Education manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Dean of Education typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Job DescriptionAshland University’s Dwight Schar College of Education is seeking applications for an Assistant Dean of Education. The Assistant Dean will work closely with the College of Education leadership team (i.e., dean, department chairs, program directors, staff).
- Develop and maintain recruitment pathways, partnerships.
- Coordinate partnerships between the COE and all P-12 schools districts plus the Elyria Center.
- Oversee the licensure verification process and serve as the college’s certification officer.
- Support graduate faculty and the Dean in all efforts related to marketing and recruitment.
- Participate in recruitment events off campus and online with COE department chairs, program directors, and faculty to implement recruitment strategies and outreach activities.
- Assist the Dean with leadership of the College.
Required Qualifications- Master’s degree in education or closely related field
- Minimum of five (5) years of full-time P-12 district or school level leadership
- Knowledge of the State of Ohio requirements for teachers
Preferred Qualifications- Five (5) years teaching experience in Ohio public schools
- Current professional teaching license/certificate
- Experience teaching college-level courses
Physical Demands- Ability to engage in on campus activities
- Ability to engage in online/remote work and knowledge of basic virtual platforms
- Ability to travel to AU sites and school districts for recruitment, marketing, and/or meetings.
