Dean of Law manages administrative functions of the college of law. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Law leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Law requires a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Law manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Dean of Law typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. The Right Candidate Will Have:
* Family Law Experience (seeking minimum 3 years of experience);
* Excellent working knowledge of Oregon's family law statutes, case law, and local rules;
* Experience appearing in Court and the ability to immediately take the reins on multiple cases and adopt a full case load;
* Personality: Must have presence, self-confidence, be sincere, and trustworthy. Should be a team player and be level-headed, professional, and not take self or work too seriously. Remain upbeat in difficult times. Hard working, able/willing to work after-hours and weekends when necessary. Be prepared to pull his/her own weight; and
* A strong alignment with our mission and values.
Compensation:
Competitive base salary plus bonus structure depending on experience. Salary includes benefits, employer-assisted health insurance, vacation, OSB dues, PLF coverage, window office, remote work from home opportunities, support staff and CLE enrollment.
