Dean of Mathematics manages administrative functions of the college of mathematics. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Mathematics leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Mathematics requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Mathematics manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Dean of Mathematics typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. - Collaborate with faculty members to develop and revise curriculum, ensuring alignment with industry standards and student needs.
- Lead recruitment, hiring, and evaluation of faculty and staff within the Mathematics department.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the department.
- Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and regulatory requirements, including those set forth by the Florida College System and SACSCOC.
- Master's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or related field required. Doctoral degree preferred.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a college environment, including 4 years of college-level teaching experience.
- At least 4 years of supervisory experience at the department chair level or higher in a post-secondary setting.
- Familiarity with the Florida College System and SACSCOC or other regional accreditation agency policies and procedures preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, and administrators.
