    Public Safety Supervisor:  Provides administrative, supervisory, and direct leadership to the Agency's Public Safety Department. Employee will work under Agency policies and procedures as well as state and federal mandates. Employee is expected to work with minimal supervision and to always exercise discretion when performing duties.  In this position you will:  
    • Supervises staff to include preparing performance planning and evaluation documents and related personnel paperwork. Coaches, counsels, and trains employees. Establishes and monitors work processes. Implements management policies and initiatives and promotes teamwork.
    • Serves as the Public Safety Superintendent responsible for training, supervising, and enforcing standards with all of the employees in the Public Safety Department. Ensures physical safety of all visitors, employees, and contractors to the museum and security of property and assets. Schedules Public Safety shifts to ensure coverage 24 hours per day, 36 days per year. Lead agent for coordinating, organizing, and directing access of all property grounds for guests and supporting agencies (Town Fire and Police Departments).
    • Directly responsible for access control procedures to include delivery/contractor vehicle check-in, key control, and photo identification badging for employees, volunteers, vendors, and contractors. Monitors security camera video as a required and coordinates for installation for new cameras as required. Responsible for coordinating with State and Federal law enforcement agencies in support of special events for visiting dignitaries, etc. Conducts daily checks of the museum grounds and notifies proper agencies of faults of all automated equipment. Ensures correct signage is displayed for our guests. Responsible for refinement of the Emergency Action Plan should the requirement to evacuate the museum occur.
    • Responsible for all administrative tasks required of the Public Safety Department, including but not limited to, preparation of work schedules, timekeeping, training, budget preparation and procurement. Responsible for maintaining departmental files including any state and federal requirement.
    • Serves as a key member of the management team. Fills in as necessary for absent team members. Provides input to senior management when polices, schedules, budgets, and priorities are being developed. Must be responsive to senior management, adhere to all established polices, and maintain accurate records of work planned and accomplished. Must deal with personnel issues in a way that shows appropriate concern for subordinates but places the interests of the Agency as the highest priority. Shall follow proper procurement procedures on all purchases in you work groups and ensure compliance with all safety regulations by self and subordinates.
    A high school diploma and a minimum of 5 years of management experience. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required program experience.

    Additional Responsibilities:
    • Knowledge of the practices and techniques of safety and security. 
    • Ability to act quickly and intelligently in emergency situations.
    •  Ability to adjust to fluctuating situations, to investigate accidents, disturbances and /or violations, to communicate effectively with both staff and general public. 
    • Knowledge of safety standards, policies and practices of state and agency regulations.
    • Requires the ability to supervise, train, and discipline public safety staff to include new employees. 
    • Ability to plan work schedules, direct staff and enforce agency standards. Ability to maintain and approve leave and time keeping record in SCEIS for public safety staff.
    • Ability to keep accurate records of supplies and equipment. Maintains sensitivity with confidential information.
