Diesel Mechanic jobs in Indiana

Diesel Mechanic performs inspection, maintenance, repairs, and overhauls of diesel engines. Troubleshoots and diagnoses problems. Being a Diesel Mechanic utilizes computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes. Replaces and/or refurbishes parts. Additionally, Diesel Mechanic maintains maintenance logs according to requirements. Ensures services provided follow all quality standards and safety procedures. May perform DOT annual inspections on vehicles. Typically requires a high school diploma. Typically requires Commercial Driver License (CDL) - Class A. Typically requires a Certificate in Automotive & Diesel Technology. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Diesel Mechanic works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job.     Job Requirements may include, but not limited to:

    • Perform all levels of preventative maintenance services.
    • Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure proper working condition.
    • Perform routine maintenance.
    • Repairing and troubleshooting of major components such as engine, transmission, and differentials.
    • Complete accurate work orders daily.

     

    Skills and Abilities Needed:

    • Ability to safely drive service vehicles and vehicles in and out of the service area and perform test drives.
    • In-depth knowledge of truck components and systems.
    • Good mechanical aptitude for vehicle maintenance and repair.
    • Must possess necessary tools to preform assigned tasks.

     

    Requirements:

    • Must be at least 18 years of age.
    • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
    • Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.
    • Must be able to read and speak the English language.
