What’s the position?

We are looking for an Engineering Manager – Front-End to join our quickly growing product and technology teams. As an Engineering Manager, you will work as part of our team to lead a team of React Web and React Native iOS/Android Engineers in developing and supporting our Sportsbook and Casino platforms. The role requires an individual that’s dedicated to the customer’s experience, able to clearly voice and document issues and concerns within their testing teams and is passionate about sports. You will be responsible for the quality, scope, and timeliness of all your team’s deliverables. Because we operate with a startup mindset, we will be reliant on your skills, but also your passion and ownership over all aspects of your work.

As an Engineering Manager – Front-End, your responsibilities will include:

Team Leadership and Development: 

• Lead and mentor both the Web developers and React Native mobile developers.
• Provide mentorship and clear career paths for individual team members, conducting regular 1:1 meetings, and ensuring a balanced skill set within teams.
• Evaluate engineers' work, coach, mentor, and conduct annual performance reviews, fostering continuous improvement and growth.
• Champion team morale by embodying and promoting company values, fostering an environment where mistakes are viewed as learning opportunities.
• Provide technical guidance in React Native and React web development.
• Assist in driving the architecture and design of our mobile application.

Recruitment and Retention: 

• Involved in the hiring process and work to retain top talent by creating a positive and productive work environment.

Delivery Management: 

• Oversee the technical domain their team is working in, ensuring the team is providing updates, meeting timelines and quality standards.
• Ensure compliance and security are ingrained in the design of technology artifacts, maintaining proper documentation standards.

Driving Technical Excellence within Technology Line:

• Ensure technical excellence and proficiency within the designated technology line, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
• Collaborate closely with technical leads to maintain high standards of code quality, performance, and scalability within the technology line.
• Review and guide the adoption of best practices, frameworks, and tools, optimizing the team's technical capabilities to deliver high-quality products
• Contribution to the architectural and technical decisions that impact their team or project.
• Provide technical guidance in React Native and React.

Collaboration and Communication: 

• Facilitate communication between team members spread amongst feature and platform teams.
• Facilitate cross-team collaboration, managing dependencies effectively, and removing impediments/blockers hindering progress.
• Balance workload and skill sets across teams, advocating for effective communication channels and documentation standards.

The ideal candidate will have:.

• Minimum 5 years of experience in information technology, with a significant portion in leadership or managerial roles, showcasing a track record of driving technical excellence and managing teams.
• Strong technical background, preferably with experience in software engineering, enabling effective guidance and decision-making within the team.
• A respectable amount of experience with React Native (either hands on or as a manager)
• Proven ability to foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and collaboration within a technology line.
• Excellent communication, mentorship, and leadership skills, fostering an environment of trust, collaboration, and innovation.
• Proficiency in API design and integrations
• A passion about all things sports betting and casino
