Distribution Director manages and deploys the operational strategy, business processes, and systems for overall distribution operations, including order fulfillment, warehousing, inventory management, and transportation. Communicates and monitors production measurement metrics and sets performance targets at the team and individual level for all distribution-related functions that align with company objectives and are within regulatory guidelines. Being a Distribution Director utilizes data-driven analytical tools and systems to continuously monitor operations, identify inefficiencies, and develop optimization strategies. SUMMARY: Directs, manages and has overall responsibility for warehouse activities to ensure the highest level of customer service, accuracy, expense control, productivity and overall efficiency is obtained in an automated grocery distribution center. Oversees transportation and all inbound and outbound activities in an efficient and appropriate manner to meet the needs of members and the goals of AWG. Collaboration and support of division, VMC, and AWG goals and initiatives is essential. Provide a safe, productive, and positive work environment ensuring an atmosphere of open and honest communications at all levels within the distribution center.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Degree or equivalent; 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have experience working with 3rd parties. Automation experience strongly preferred. Must have the ability to run a 24x7 operation. Experience with facility start-ups is strongly preferred. Experience in relocating a facility is strongly preferred. Working knowledge of warehouse management systems is strongly preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, write and speak English language. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to compile and administer a department budget.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form. Ability to reason with employees and vendors. Negotiating skills beneficial.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid Driver’s License.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Knowledge of company policy and procedures. Knowledge of products, accounting principles, communication skills, warehouse functions, billing and receiving procedures.
