Distribution Manager manages and deploys the operational strategy, business processes, and systems for overall distribution operations, including order fulfillment, warehousing, inventory management, and transportation. We have an immediate opening for a full-time Safety & Security Manager. The Safety & Security Manager will help support, train, and educate local leaders in CA, OR & WA in the implementation of health, safety and security programs and initiatives. The appointee will provide health, safety and security guidance and technical subject matter expertise on hazard recognition and risk mitigation controls through active engagement with front line leaders and workers.
Key Duties and responsibilities
• Ensures effective execution of health, safety, and security programs in all TransCold-USA locations.
• Works closely in partnership with the leadership team to ensure that best practices are designed and executed with
Health, Safety and Security in mind.
• Takes the lead on further developing TransCold’s safety-first culture.
• Takes the lead in ensuring that the Safety Committee meetings are conducted regularly.
• Ensures required safety and security inspections/audits are conducted regularly and create/execute on corrective
action plans.
• Ensures workplace incidents/accidents are investigated in a timely manner.
• Responsible for the development and administration of health, safety and security programs and training for all
TransCold personnel including new hire safety orientations.
• Maintains the Health & Safety Manual and develops new health, safety, and security policies and procedures as
needed.
• Maintains up to date knowledge of safety regulations and compliance requirements and advises the leadership
team accordingly.
• Assists in interfacing with state and federal regulatory agencies and preparing reports as required.
• Arranges all necessary external training/audits.
• Conducts work safely and adheres to the company’s health, safety, and security policies and procedures.
• Ensures integrity of health, safety and security data and information.
• Performs other tasks within the scope of the role as assigned.
Key Qualifications & Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in business, safety or related field or equivalent experience
• 3-5 years' experience as Health & Safety Manager/Officer ideally gained in food distribution/cold storage sectors
• 3-5 years' experience in the field of security
• Ability to travel occasionally between CA, WA, and OR
• Strong knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations including OSHA, DOT, FDA, USDA, EPA and industry
benchmarking metrics
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation an asset
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
