Drilling Operations Director jobs in New York

The VP of Construction / Drilling will play a pivotal role in leading and optimizing drilling activities for geothermal energy projects.

This position will involve strategic planning, technical expertise, and operational leadership to ensure successful drilling operations that maximize productivity and minimize costs in a safe environment for our teams.

Reporting to the COO, the VP will oversee a multi-state team of drilling crews, collaborate closely with other departments and drive continuous improvement in drilling performance.

We are open to hiring a qualified VP of Construction / Drilling located in the northeast.

Key Responsibilities :

• Lead and manage drilling teams, drillers, and support personnel, to ensure efficient and safe execution of drilling operations.
• Establish a technical department with expertise in drilling techniques, equipment selection and logistics aimed at maximizing productivity.
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance drilling productivity, reduce downtime, and increase overall project profitability.
• Develop and manage budgets, schedules, and performance metrics for drilling operations, and provide regular reports to senior management.
• Monitor drilling operations to ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and project specifications.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory developments in geothermal drilling and energy production, and incorporate relevant innovations into project planning and execution.

Qualifications :

• Bachelor's degree in Geology, Petroleum Engineering, Geothermal Engineering, Civil Engineering or any construction related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in heavy construction industries such as building construction, road and highway construction, utility scale renewable energy construction, etc.
• Drilling operation experience with significant exposure to geothermal or oil and gas projects is a plus.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of driving results in a dynamic and challenging environment.
• Sound understanding of safety regulations, environmental compliance requirements, and risk management practices in the construction industry.
• Proficiency in software, data analysis tools, and project management systems.
• Ability to travel to project sites (we currently operate in NY, CT and MA).
