Down East magazine is seeking an editorial assistant to join its team. This is a full-time, entry-level position that provides broad experience in magazine work and comes with opportunities for long-term growth and advancement within the company.
Editorial responsibilities include writing short department pieces and front matter, generating story ideas, research and fact-checking, and, from time to time, contributing to feature packages and special projects. The job also involves some writing for newsletters and custom publications, plus a modicum of administrative work, namely reading and responding to correspondence and submissions.
Most of the Down East editorial and creative team primarily works remotely, but this position requires residency in Maine, the ability to travel around the state on assignment, and occasional in-person attendance at the magazine’s headquarters, in Rockport, as well as at off-site meetings.
