EEG Technician performs electroencephalograms in accordance with established practices and procedures. Attaches electrodes to the patient. Being an EEG Technician records impulse frequencies and differences in electrical potential between various areas of the brain to obtain data for use in the diagnosis of brain disorders. Provides preliminary diagnostic evaluation and notifies neurologist of results of examinations. Additionally, EEG Technician consults with neurologist to establish requirements for non-standard examinations and determines technical factors to satisfy requirements. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The EEG Technician works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. To be an EEG Technician typically requires 1-3 years of related experience. (Copyright 2024 Salary.com)

    Polysomnographer - Sleep Laboratory at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland, OR.

    $8,000 hiring bonus for eligible external hires that meet required qualifications and conditions for payment. This is in addition to the fantastic benefits and compensation package offered by Providence that begin on your first day of employment.

    Performs routine and complex electroencephalographic procedures that may include evoked potentials, intra-operative monitoring, EMU monitoring, cEEG and ambulatory video EEG. Monitors placement of sphenoidal, grid, depth and strip electrodes. Assists with WADA testing and coritcol stimulation.

    Required Qualifications:

    • National Certification from American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists upon hire
    • National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire
    • 1 year of full time experience

    Preferred Qualification:

    • Documented training in evoked potentials and intra-operative monitoring
