The Ipswich Electric Light Department seeks qualified candidates for the full-time position of Operations Manager. The Ipswich Electric Light Department maintains over 3,500 utility poles, 1,000 transformers, and over 100 linear miles of circuits, which are connected via 3 substations. The distribution infrastructure serves over 7,000 customer meter endpoints throughout 33 square miles of system territory. In addition, the ELD owns transmission and generation assets including 1.25 miles of transmission lines, a 1.5 MW wind turbine, and a 5MW reciprocating power plant. In collaboration with and at the direction of the General Manager, the Operations Manager provides direct oversight for field operations, including metering, distribution, and generation. Specific responsibilities are expected to include developing training schedules, coordinating safety inspections, organizing preventative maintenance programs, enhancing inventory management, and providing regular supervision and support for electric crews. The Operations Manager will also support the General Manager in developing the ELD’s annual budget, managing power contracts, ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory agencies, and demonstrating leadership as part of the Utilities management team.
