We are looking for a talented Utility Estimator to join our Utilities Division.
As an Estimator, you will work collaboratively with our project managers, supervisors and clients to efficiently prepare accurate bids and quotations for our utility construction projects.
Job Responsibilities:
- Thoroughly analyze blueprints and specifications to precisely calculate estimates
- Carefully evaluate project scopes and site conditions to determine resource needs
- Conduct research and fairly price all required materials, equipment, labor and overhead
- Prepare estimates for overhead and underground transmission and distribution line construction projects
- Analyze project scope, specifications, and drawings to determine material, time and labor requirements
- Coordinate with engineers and operations teams to understand project requirements
- Calculate material, equipment, and labor costs to develop competitive bids
- Manage project estimating from initial budgeting through final cost accounting
- Provide clear and timely budgets and schedules to management and clients
- Friendly assist project coordinators with overall project planning, carefully tracking costs
- Download prospective Bids from a variety of clients and industry portals. Prioritize bids based on Scope of Work and location.
- Work closely with Marketing to develop RFP/Bid Templates that can be utilized across multiple clients.
- Responsible for ensuring timely submission of accurate documentation
Skills Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field preferred
- Acute understanding of how the work is rolled out at the Field level, and how the employees and equipment are deployed
- 5 years of experience in utility construction cost estimation
- Proficient with construction estimating software
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong analytical and mathematical abilities to efficiently calculate estimates
- Ability to price based on “Unit” based billing / Lump Sum and also Time and Equipment.
- Proficiency with computer-aided estimating software to streamline the process
- Knowledge of construction methods, codes and regulations to ensure safety and quality
- Excellent communication and organizational skills to collaborate effectively
- An eye for detail and accuracy to deliver trustworthy proposals
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a reliable manner
- Effective communication skills to liaise with internal and external stakeholders
- Familiar with FERC Accounting and “unit pricing” in the Utility Industry
