Application Process
1) Complete the online application and upload your cover letter and resume as one PDF. Applications will be accepted until May 4, 2024, at 1200 EST.
2) All applicants will receive an email regarding the status of their applications by May 5, 2024.
3) If applicable, pre-employment screenings, clinical scenarios, and interviews will be conducted on May 6-7, 2024.
4) All new hires and returning employees must attend mandatory in-person pre-season training from May 24-29, 2024. The training will be all-inclusive and paid for by the company. Employees will receive a training pay rate.
NOTE: This is a nationwide position. The company will coordinate your travel to and from the fire. You DO NOT have to live in any specific region to apply.
Pay - Employees are paid biweekly during the fire season. Employees typically work 16-hour days when deployed to an incident. Employees are paid hourly at their regular pay rate ($32.50/hr) for the first 8 hours worked per day and then overtime ($48.75/hr) for the second 8 hours worked per day. This results in an average of $650/day. Detailed pay practices will be provided upon hire.
Duties and responsibilities
- Conducts patient assessments

Provides basic emergency medical care to stabilize the condition of the critically ill or injured before transport to a medical facility

Confers with the supervising physician or hospital via radio or telephone, providing the patient's medical history and condition.

Completes incident and patient paperwork accurately and efficiently (before, during, and after the incident)

Responds to emergency calls to protect life and property

Combats, extinguishes, and prevents fires

Provides emergency medical care to the sick and injured

Drives emergency apparatus, including, but not limited to, transport units, UTVs, trucks, ambulances, and other company vehicles

Performs related work as required under direct supervision

Qualifications
Required Education: Successful completion of an accredited Emergency Medical Technician program.
Preferred Experience:
- Three years of 911 EMS experience and/or clinical experience.

Wildland fire medical experience and/or wildland firefighter experience (hand crew, hotshot, etc.)
Required Certifications (must be valid and current)
- At least one state EMT license

Additional requirements/expectations
- Deployments are at least 16 days (14 days on the incident 2 travel days) and up to 23 days (21 days on the incident 2 travel days) before R&R is required. All prospective employees are expected to have availability to fulfill these deployment requirements. You may be expected to deploy within 24 hours of notification of an assignment.

Lodging is typically tent camping (the company provides tents/supplies); however, all prospective employees are expected to be comfortable living and working outdoors for several weeks at a time.

Food is provided by the incident, but if for some reason food is not available, per diem will be provided.

The company pays for, and coordinates travel to and from all incidents.
Working conditions
- The worker is subject to both environmental conditions: Activities occur inside and outside.

The worker is subject to noise: There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout to be heard above the ambient noise level.

The worker is subject to extreme cold: Temperatures typically below 32 degrees for more than one hour. The effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity, should be considered.

The worker is subject to extreme heat: Temperatures above 100 degrees for more than one hour. The effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity, should be considered.
Physical requirements
- Must be able to pass NWCG Arduous Work Capacity Test consisting of a 3-mile walk with a 45-lb pack over level terrain

May be required to hike extended distances while carrying a pack and equipment

Must be able to sit and/or stand up to 16 hours daily.

Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Reach above the shoulder, work with your body, bend at the waist, kneel, crawl, climb stairs, and maneuver rough terrain.

Work with arms extended, work with arms above shoulder level, stand, sit, and push.
