Employee Health Services Manager is responsible for managing the employee health service functions of the organization. Administers healthcare program operations and supervises subordinate staff. The Employee Health Services Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Palmetto Lowcountry Behavioral Health is now seeking to fill our Infection Preventionist/Employee Health Coordinator position.

    Position Summary

    The Infection Preventionist possesses knowledge of hospital epidemiology principles and is responsible for coordination of the facility-wide Infection Control Program which includes surveillance, analysis, and reporting of infections; educating employees about infection control; and the development or revision of policies and procedures to ensure rigorous infection control standards that meet Joint Commission, OSHA, Department of Health, and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention requirements. Prepares, presents, and coordinates clinical and non-clinical trainings to ensure staff competency upon hire and throughout their employment. Collaborates with program and department managers to design facility-wide programs to improve quality of care and employee performance through the development of staff knowledge and skills. This position reports to the Chief Nursing Officer.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Monitor, collect, organize, and report Infection Control data to the Medical Executive Committee quarterly and annually. This involves tracking reported infectious diseases of patients, reviewing lab reports, and obtaining the monthly list of all antibiotics prescribed from the pharmacist.
    • Coordinates New Employee Orientation and annual competency trainings by providing education on standard precautions and infection control requirements and protocol per OSHA, DHEC, Joint Commission, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the facility policies and procedures.
    • Schedules and/or performs initial and annual employee health review and screening for tuberculosis, documenting in employee health record and in Midas.
    • Coordinate closely with all departments to obtain information regarding patients and staff with suspected infections and ensuring control procedures are in place and adhered to.
    • Contributes to establishment and review of departmental policies and procedures. Review Infection Control policy and procedure annually to recommend and update changes as warranted for compliance with national, state, and local regulations.

    Schedule

    Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. On call required for acute infection control issues.

    Qualifications

    Education: Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, bachelor's degree, or comparable degree, required.

    Experience: Minimum of one (1) year experience as an Infection Preventionist and Employee Health Coordinator in a hospital or health care environment; completion of an APIC approved educational course or at least one year of experience working under the supervision of an experienced infection control practitioner. Must have advanced knowledge of medical terminology. Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred. If not certified, certification required within two and a half years after hire, required.

    Age-Specific Competencies: Child, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric

    Licensure/Certification: Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred; CPR/CPI certification required - provided upon hire.
