The Safety, Health and Environmental Manager is accountable for planning, organizing, coordinating, developing and execution of programs to ensure maximum compliance with Corporate, Federal, State and local laws and regulations.
This position represents a high level of responsibility and individual contribution. The incumbent will be successful through strong leadership, vision, and effective management leading EHS though functional leaders and supervisors.
Safety, Health and Environmental Manager
· Build, and drive, a proactive safety culture at plant. Create environment where employees and supervision are engaged in working safely. Implement BBS programs.
· Prepare, maintain, and comply with federal, state, and local agency environmental reporting and permitting and Corporate EHS Standards. Advise on all EHS legislation and legal requirements.
· Ensure facility maintains ongoing compliance with OSHA/EPA requirements, safety standards, wastewater treatment plant operations, air permits and waste management practices. Serve as the interface with local, state and federal agencies.
· Investigate injuries/illnesses, near-misses and environmental incidents. Determine root cause of incidences and provide corrective action plan. Manage and track injury and illness data and environmental metrics. Lead reduction in injury and illness rates and environmental impact and costs.
· Serve as a champion for Sustainability projects.
· Develop and implement EHS programs, policies, procedures and best practice techniques, implement new regulatory requirements, and provide control measures that reduce or eliminate risks to the Company. Implement and maintain an EHS Management Systems. Oversee and optimize EHS training programs.
· Conduct EHS assessments at the facility, identify areas for improvement, and lead corrective actions (from plant and corporate/3rd party audits).
· Serve as Subject Matter Expert for Waste Water Treatment Plant compliance and management.
· Lead EHS reviews and identify requirements for engineering projects, new lines/equipment, and management of change activity.

Requirements
· 5-10 years of experience in a safety role in an operations/manufacturing environment
· Exceptional leadership skills and ability to mentor and motivate (a real passion for EHS)
· Ability to compile, format and present in front of large groups on a frequent basis
· Support of 24/7 shift and weekend operations
· Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills
· Must be proficient in computer skills including Word, Excel & PowerPoint, able to navigate custom databases and on-line document management software
· Ability to work on teams, manage multiple tasks and interact with senior management
· Preferred candidate will have Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
· Preferred candidate will have knowledge / experience in industrial hygiene and or environmental compliance
