Environmental Compliance Specialist

Mellor Engineering is seeking a full time Environmental Compliance Specialist. This position is located on U.S. Army Dugway Proving Ground, Dugway, Utah. The successful candidate will enjoy working a 4/10 work week: four ten hour days with Fridays off.

Founded in 1993, Mellor Engineering has been delivering an array of advanced engineering, technical support, and construction services to U.S. Government and Industry customers. Our proven expertise and experience includes areas of Environmental Compliance, Chemical Demilitarization, Environmental Remediation, Defense Range and Test Support, Defense Chemical and Biological Research, Simulated Munition Fabrication and Support, Specialized Military Construction, and Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAVs).

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide both technical and consulting skills in support of our clients in managing the existing Clean Air Act (Title V) and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA Part B) permits on the installation, in addition to other environmental compliance projects as required.
• Develop and/or modify environmental permits and other technical support documents in accordance with applicable Federal and State (Utah) environmental regulations.
• Prepare and maintain permit driven reporting and recordkeeping requirements (monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, and annual) for external and internal purposes.
• Obtain and maintain an EPA Method 9 certification to perform visible emissions (opacity) observations.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of databases and applications for analytical and quality assurance projects.
• Interpersonal relations relating to effective communication and coordination of data needs and environmental compliance to include communication of technical issues to clients and regulatory personnel.
• Strong technical writing and peer review support.

General Requirements:

The successful candidate must be able to work effectively and efficiently with multiple clients and co-workers. They must be hard-working, self-motivated and have excellent technical and communication skills. Business development and marketing of new work is encouraged. This position requires time management and multitasking skills, the ability to solve complex problems with little to no oversight or outside assistance, and the ability to adapt to and perform in dynamic situations.

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry, biology, environmental, engineering or other science.

Previous Experience Requirements:

This position requires a general technical background in environmental compliance particularly Clean Air Act (CAA), RCRA, and State of Utah specific regulations. Knowledge of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and general environmental consulting is also desired. A minimum of seven (5) years of direct experience is required.

About Dugway Proving Ground:

Located in Utah’s remote West Desert Dugway Proving Ground operates under a four day work week (10 working hours per day) providing a consistent three (3) day weekend for employees.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
