They are responsible for ensuring that the Center HSE function meets Clorox's strategic priorities and objectives, that BU and Plant HSE leaders achieve consistent results, and that Clorox maintains a strong, enterprise-wide safety culture. This role involves implementing comprehensive policies, practices, and accountability structures that support Clorox’s vision of a zero-incident/zero-injury workplace, focusing on both safe working environments and safe employee behaviors. Additionally, this leader will directly supervise BU HSE Managers globally and have skip-level supervisory responsibilities for Plant HSE Supervisors, who report directly to the BU HSE Managers. They will also be responsible for regularly updating senior Clorox leadership on progress towards established goals, promptly escalating any concerning developments, and overseeing the implementation of agreed-upon response or mitigation measures. In this role, you will: Strategic Leadership Responsibilities: Provide strategic leadership and operational accountability to develop, implement, and/or maintain an effective and efficient enterprise wide HSE function. Define, update, and implement overall safety requirements and processes/policies for the Clorox enterprise that align with regulatory requirements, legal obligations, industry best practices, existing company policies, and Clorox’s strategic priorities. Determine enterprise wide HSE vision for robust safety culture and communicate progress and status to key leadership on a regular cadence that includes ensuring safe working environments, appropriate training for relevant employees on key safety behaviors, and tracking against identified success measures. Continually monitor global regulatory and legal requirements as well as industry best practices and update and modify enterprise HSE policies and procedures as needed to ensure continued compliance and support of developing business strategies and goals. Set priorities for enterprise HSE strategies consistent with budget allocations and deliver against same. BU and Manufacturing Oversight Responsibilities: Directly manage Center HSE employees and BU HSE Managers through effective and team-centered supervision, coaching, advising, and direction to ensure alignment of BU HSE Managers globally and Clorox’s #AwesomeBoss expectations. Support direct reports with the supervision, coaching, advising, and direction of this leader’s indirect reports across the HSE function and plant locations. Liaise with key internal stakeholders (technical experts, Supply Chain leaders, Legal, and others) and external subject matter experts as necessary to ensure successful cross-functional collaboration across the enterprise and delivery of global HSE goals. Develop and lead enterprise-wide Community of Practice effectively to promote collaboration, expertise/knowledge sharing, timely updates on industry best practices. Ensure enterprise-wide compliance with all applicable regulatory obligations, legal obligations, industry best practices, and Clorox’s own HSE policies/practices/procedures. Ensure all plant HSE activities are aligned with, support, and further the achievement of Clorox’s enterprise and business HSE goals Operational Execution Responsibilities: Identify and launch reinforcement mechanisms, communications, and training requirements (and corresponding delivery platform) to enable world class safety culture that equally prioritizes safe working environments and safe employee behaviors. Partner with Clorox Legal to review and approve major incident investigation results and documentation of lessons learned and/or changes necessary to ensure BU HSE Managers and other BU/plant leaders are identifying legally compliant and sustainable solutions. Establish and provide ongoing visibility to leadership on critical HSE Key Performance Indicators (“KPIs"), related corrective actions, recommended preventative measures, and results of implementation strategies to advise and track progress on overall enterprise HSE goals. What we look for: 15 years’ experience with 10 years of technical experience in occupational health and safety experience in a manufacturing or related environment 10 years in people management, including employee selection, development/coaching, and career planning. BS/BA degree or higher in Health, Safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene or related degree Certified Safety Professional (CSP); Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or related certification preferred Strategic experience managing large teams across multiple jurisdictions and technical disciplines, with a proven track record of transforming operations to a world-class standard and increasing responsibility. A proven track record in successful culture building, focusing on establishing a comprehensive and consistent safety culture across the Clorox enterprise, including BU and plant levels. Deep knowledge of HSE expertise, regulatory obligations (OSHA, FDA, DOL, EPA, etc.) and industry standards/best practices. Demonstrated ability to partner and influence across a large organization to drive an effective safety culture and accountability, with preference for experience in a global organization. Successful at attracting, cultivating, and retaining high performing teams with diverse experiences. Collaborates effectively and frequently with key senior stakeholders; is a trusted advisor who can influence HSE-related decisions through an operational lens. Communicates all HSE-related topics and the resulting implications effectively to all levels of leadership. Builds high performing teams; is a highly effective coach to direct reports; Provides clear goal alignment and feedback that stretches individual development. Influences and empowers colleagues and team members to achieve strategic priorities. Elevates the knowledge of and sensitivity to HSE-related topics and concerns into the broader business dialogue and application.
