Description

The Service Manager manages the dealerships service department. This includes managing employees, delegating work, managing repair lead-time, and reviewing performance & profitability indicators.

Essential Functions

• Manage Service Technicians and Service Writers to ensure repairs are completed & billed out properly
• Assure that Service Technicians are appropriately clocked into jobs and billing the appropriate time.
• Assure all work orders are invoiced properly
• Manage Work-In Process and control service lead-time
• Understanding of job codes and ensuring items are properly quoted
• Understand and manage Service Technician training certifications and development
• Document and update service and warranty tickets
• Invoice and follow up with customers regarding their billing or questions on repairs
• Ensure that customer communication is updated (including Modern Software) and followed according to company policy
• Understand and manage key performance indicators such as efficiency, recovery rate, and rework %
• Manage WIP and Service department lead-time in accordance with company policy
• Ensure all warranty paperwork and documentation is completed and filed in accordance with Manufacturers policy
• Ensure all PDI and Sales Installs are completed properly
• Maintain a safe working environment and follow all industry and company safety regulations
• Perform other duties and tasks assigned by Manager

Qualifications

Associates Degree in Mechanics from an accredited Technical School/College or 5 years experience in Compact Equipment or related service.

3 years of management experience preferred. 

Knowledge and Skills

• Know and understand warranty procedures and service issues and procedures.
• Know and understand requirements for documenting work orders and invoices.
• Understand product performance expectations and limitations.
• Understanding of Service performance & profitability indicators
• Perform varying computer skills including efficient and responsible use of email.
• Able to work with minimal supervision
• Compact Construction Equipment Repair Experience (preferred)
• Ability to Operate Machinery
• Able to lift 40lbs on a consistent basis
• Knowledge of industry-related safety regulations.
