Job Summary
The Vice President of Mission collaborates with the Avera Chief Mission Officer and leaders throughout Avera and specifically Avera Health to maintain, strengthen and promote Avera’s Catholic identity, mission, values, and culture in the healing ministry of the Church.
Report to the Regional President and CEO as member of the Administrative team, the mission leader provides leadership to ensure the integration of mission and the promotion of Catholic identity into all aspects of the organization.
The mission leader plays a key role in shaping the culture, grounded in the values of Compassion, Hospitality and Stewardship and expressed in spirituality reflective of the heritage and faith traditions on which Avera was founded.
The mission leader will collaborate with others in the development of new ministries to promote healthy communities and will assist in advancing the advocacy agenda at the national, state and local levels. The mission leader will facilitate community involvement and relationships.
In collaboration with the Human Resource Officer, lead efforts on employee engagement related to culture and mission. Project leader for Community Health Needs Assessment. Provide supervision of the Volunteers, Spiritual Care, and Transportation staff.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, developing, training, and retaining employees; planning, assigning, and leading work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
