Exhibit Designer - Museum jobs in Delaware

Rockwood Park & Museum is seeking a part-time Museum Educator to develop student and family programs within the musuem and throughout the park. Rockwood is a 75-acre urban forested park two miles north of downtown Wilmington featuring the 1850s Gothic Revival house museum, family art collection, and historic gardens of the Shiply/Bringhurst/Hargraves family. This estate/farm-turned-park was developed from several colonial-period farms on the traditional lands of the LenapeTribe of Delaware. The position is described by the New Castle County HR Department as a Community Services Worker V with a specialization in Museum Education. Many of the responsibilities associated with this position are included in this list:

• Assists with the interpretation of this historic estate;
• Develops and manages, with staff assistance, original adult, family, and children’s programs that emphasize some of the major interpretive concepts of Rockwood such as fine and decorative arts, architecture, costume, landscape design, natural sciences, preservation, social history, literature, and western legacies of slavery;
• Organizes all programs into seasonal calendars and includes program descriptions in public calendars;
• Assists with tour development and guide training;
• Assists with recruitment and coordination of volunteers;
• Develop student-tour and bus-tour programs;
• Assists with video/photographic content for social media;
• Assists and occasional oversight of contractor/student/internship/fellowship help;
• Assists with grant writing and other development efforts;
• Assists with object moves/installations, as needed;
• The position requires some weekend, evening, and festival hours, as needed;
• Requires extensive standing and/or walking often on uneven ground and the ability to climb stairs;
• Requires regular bending, crouching, twisting, pushing, and lifting;
• Helps collect fees, fines, and roster materials from participants and inputs payments into the online system;
• Requires work on a computer.
