Field Engineer - Construction delivers on-site technical oversight support to provide engineering guidance and monitoring for construction projects. Monitors construction progress and conducts daily site inspections to ensure work complies with time, budget, quality, safety, and regulatory requirements. Being a Field Engineer - Construction follows quality control procedures and inspection protocols to ensure that standards, designs, blueprints, and specifications are understood and followed. Troubleshoots technical issues that arise on-site and consult with architects, contractors, and supervisors to develop and implement solutions with minimal disruption to project schedules. Additionally, Field Engineer - Construction documents construction activities using logs, progress, and inspection reports and regularly updates status to project managers. Attends project meetings to provide technical input and present recommendations to improve construction processes. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Field Engineer - Construction work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.   • Talascend is currently seeking a Civil Field Construction Engineer for a contract opportunity located in Los Alamos, NM.

    Candidate must have a Bachelors Degree.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Construction Engineer is responsible for the following:

    • Ensuring that the technical aspects of construction and maintenance projects are executed in full conformance with the Approved Project Documents by monitoring facility maintenance and construction activities.
    • Providing input during scoping, design, execution, and project closeout to ensure baseline documents are accurate, design documents are adhered to, and as-built configurations are verified.
    • Expediting project execution by identifying issues, coordinating technical solutions, and providing timely guidance to the constructor through approved procedures.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology Science, Math or related degree from an accredited institution.
    • 8 years of directly related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Experience with design and/or installation of facility and infrastructure systems.
    • US Citizenship is required for the site.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent organizational skills.
    • Capability with MS Office Suite.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interface with clients, contractors, and consultants on a day-to-day basis.
    • Demonstrated adept knowledge of construction engineering principles.
    • Demonstrated expertise in reading and understanding engineering design documents, drawings, and specifications to ensure their completeness and constructability.
    • Demonstrated experience interpreting construction industry specifications, construction means and methods, and national construction codes and standards relevant to the field engineering discipline.
    • Proven ability to effectively communicate engineering solutions both verbally and in writing for management, customers, peers, and craft personnel.
    • Demonstrated proficiency in conducting field verifications of construction work to oversee, facilitate, and enforce compliance with drawings, specifications, national codes and standards.
    • Demonstrated proficiency in collaborative problem solving to resolve facility and infrastructure engineering issues in the field as the liaison between design engineers and the constructor.
