Financial Systems Analyst jobs in Rhode Island
Financial Systems Analyst implements, maintains, and updates the systems that store and process financial data. Modifies system menus, edits spreadsheets and reports, and troubleshoots system problems. Being a Financial Systems Analyst imports files to and exports files from financial databases. Generates reports and conducts analyses on financial systems data. Additionally, Financial Systems Analyst collaborates with internal teams to determine primary needs and goals and creates solutions to meet those objectives. Trains staff on the use of financial systems and acts as a liaison to the information technology department. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Financial Systems Analyst work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Location: Johnston, RI (Hybrid role with preference for candidates in New England or NY)
Duration: 12 months
Requirements:
- Experience:
- 5 years in Financial Systems Data Analysis, SQL, Financial Accounting.
- Strong financial/accounting background, including insurance account knowledge (preferred).
- Experience in financial analysis, financial testing, financial system requirement documentation, financial auditing, reconciliation, and financial reporting systems.
- Accounting Experience: Required, particularly in month and year-end close, financial transactions reconciliation, chart of accounts management, general ledger processes, and associated accounting rules.
- SQL Skills: Must have strong SQL query skills (Oracle SQL Developer experience is a plus).
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, essential for business interactions.
- Experience loading and processing data into financial systems.
- Familiarity with financial test case creation, test scripting, and execution.
- Corporate Investment Account/Fund Accounting: Not a fit.
- Experience with financial package software configuration (a plus).
- Experience with BI reporting tools (a plus).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting desired.
Responsibilities:
- Understand and implement accounting policies and rules to create journal entries for various financial life cycle events.
- Document requirements for financial system enhancements or changes.
- Utilize technologies and tools for data extraction, transfer, and loading (ETL tools, Service Gateway).
- Perform analysis, testing, and implementation of data-driven solutions involving component architectures, data warehouses, data-marts, accounting engines, and sub-ledgers.
- Leverage strong SQL skills and relational database knowledge to construct queries.
- Conduct business and process analysis, including structured documentation.
- Identify and resolve accounting data discrepancies.
- Design financial test scenarios, acceptance criteria, expected results, and test data.
