FIRE CAPTAIN jobs in Massachusetts
FIRE CAPTAIN manages a team of firefighters. Ensures all equipment is properly maintained and serviced. Being a FIRE CAPTAIN directs training and conditioning activities. Administers the staff work schedule to ensure adequate coverage. Additionally, FIRE CAPTAIN leads and coordinates responses to fire events, hazardous material incidents, auto accidents, and search and rescue operations. Prepares post-incident reports as required. Leads or coordinates fire safety education and inspection activities. Typically is required to pass periodic physical ability tests. May require registry in NREMT. Typically requires an associate degree in fire science. Requires Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Basic. Typically reports to a manager. The FIRE CAPTAIN manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a FIRE CAPTAIN typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Job Description
Location Marina Bay, Quincy Massachusetts
Terms 3-4 days per week - Seasonal (including weekends)
Salary $25-$30 per hour
Requirements - USCG license mandatory

We provide a hassle-free boating experience to thousands of members across the Commonwealth giving them an alternative to boat ownership.
About the role Reporting to the Director of Operations in the Operations Department, a Training Captain is responsible for following strict corporate guidelines to train and certify members to operate a Freedom Boat club boat safely, anywhere in the county.
This position has the ability for advancement / promotion in to a Full Time year round Training Manager role.
Responsibilities
- Read and understand training policies.
- Contact members with reminders, document attempts.
- Train new members and complete check in / out.
- Documenting all lessons and training classes.
- Be an expert in small boat handling.
- Conducting vessel inspections prior to use.
- Certifying or recommending retraining.
- Conducting special training for members after incidents.
- Train staff on boat handling and assist dock staff as needed.
