Fire Fighter is responsible for rapid response to fires, accidents, and other emergencies to protect people, property, and the environment. Works with firefighting teams to control and extinguish fires and safely manage hazardous materials. Being a Fire Fighter performs search and rescue, responds to auto accidents, and provides emergency medical services. Uses and operates fire tools, equipment and apparatus as effectively and safely as possible. Additionally, Fire Fighter performs routine maintenance and inspection of firefighting equipment and gear to ensure proper condition and preparedness for emergencies. Prepares post-incident reports as required. May participate in fire safety education and inspection activities. Typically is required to pass periodic physical ability tests. May require registry in NREMT. May require an associate degree in fire science. Requires Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Basic. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Fire Fighter works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Responsibilities:
- Install, inspect, maintain, and repair fire sprinkler systems in various commercial, industrial, and residential settings.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to plan and execute system installations.
- Conduct regular inspections and tests to ensure the functionality and compliance of fire sprinkler systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair issues with fire sprinkler components and systems.
- Adhere to local, state, and national fire safety codes and regulations.
- Collaborate with project managers, construction professionals, and team members to meet project goals and deadlines.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completed apprenticeship program or formal training in fire sprinkler system installation.
- Relevant certifications, such as NICET, are a plus.
- Proficient knowledge of fire safety codes and regulations.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Physical fitness and the ability to work in diverse conditions.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
