Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Additionally, Fire Inspector Supervisor relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. FIRE PROTECTION INSPECTOR-FIREFIGHTER CNIC

  • Duties

    • You will perform regular and periodic fire protection inspections for all areas of the installation where fire hazards are high and involves hazards. that are difficult to recognize.
    • You will develop and conduct extensive fire protection and prevention education and training programs to produce education events for children at the Child Development Center, Youth Center, and local schools.
    • You will inspect, test, and correct deficiencies on a variety of fire protection systems to ensure code compliance throughout the installation.
    • You will review work requests and engineering plans and evaluate specifications for new construction, alteration, and extension of existing. structures for construction projects on the installation.
    • You will know of the theory of fire propagation and progression and the application of accepted techniques and principles to eliminate/reduce the hazards in a specialized environment where there is a high fire expectancy and potential for severity.
    • You will develop and maintain a variety of documentation such as fire prevention inspection schedules and facilities jackets on assigned facilities on the installation.
    • You will comply with health, safety, and environmental rules, procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment on the installation.

    Qualifications
    ***This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Fire Inspector I, Fire Inspector II, Fire Instructor I, and HAZMAT Awareness. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement. If you do not possess all of the above certifications you will be rated ineligible. Copies of Certifications MUST be submitted with your application.***
    Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Conducting fire safety training to groups; 2) Eliminating or reducing hazards where the expectancy and potential for severity is high; 3) Inspecting buildings for potential fire hazards (e.g. obstructed exits, presence of combustible materials, etc.); 4) Adapting fire protection/prevention techniques to correct conditions or hazardous situations; and 5) Responding to emergencies to conduct firefighting duties.

    This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base, Major Range and Test Facilities direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.

    This position is eligible for part time, substantial or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management.
    This position is being recruited at the full performance level.
    A 60 hour work week/120 hour per pay period.
    Employee may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays. May be subject to recall. May be required to participate in on-scene firefighting duties during emergencies. These duties require heavy lifting and physical exertion.
    Position is covered as a secondary position under the provisions of the special retirement coverage.
    This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
