Fixed Income Analyst, Sr. jobs in North Carolina

Description

 This person will be responsible for overseeing credit research and monitoring for Institutional Sales & Trading, reviewing credits for potential trade opportunities for institutional and retail sales, conducting market research, and researching potential trade ideas for retail brokers. HJ Sims is looking for people who are driven, dedicated, and open to travel to continue to grow our company. 

Credit and Market Analysis: 

• Analyze credits (municipal and corporate) brought by trading desk for institutional trade opportunities and suitability for retail sales. Must be able to distinguish between retail and institutional investment opportunities
• Monitor non-HJ Sims public offerings in the senior living and charter school space and provide guidance to Institutional Sales & Trading
• Review credits brought by municipal traders for suitability and inventory
• Monitor municipal credits as well as municipal sectors in which traders are actively making markets
• Examples; Pre-Paid Natural Gas, Tobacco, lower-rated hospitals…
• Provide insight as to if the credit is worth taking into inventory
• Liaise with Banking research on HJ Sims underwritten credits to maintain familiarity and provide insight if needed
• In addition, liaise with Banking research to keep informed of trends in the senior living and charter school industries
• Research and review fixed income (municipal and corporate) market trends and opportunities for retail sales
• Provide tactical fixed income trade ideas on scheduled broker calls for brokerage accounts
• Suggest swap ideas for maturing bonds or to harvest gains/losses
• Participate in client calls with brokers to discuss fixed income markets and potential trade opportunities
• All ideas must conform with regulatory and internal protocols
• Create HJ Sims branded materials for internal and external users including:
• Internal educational materials
• External white papers on different market topics
• Work collegially across the organization
• Additional licensing may be required and adequate time will be given

Requirements

• Previous experience in fixed income. 
• Ability and experience with analyzing fixed income market trends and making investment recommendations
• Excellent analytical skills; strong attention to detail
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Superior time management skills; ability to meet deadlines on time
• Ability to learn and master new tasks quickly
• Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple projects simultaneously, and manage rapidly changing assignments in a team environment
