ADJUNCT INSTRUCTOR – CANNABIS STUDIES WILBUR WRIGHT COLLEGE
Wilbur Wright College, one of the City Colleges of Chicago, seeks part-time faculty to teach cannabis studies courses to support students seeking a Basic Certificate in Applied Cannabis Studies, an Advanced Certificate in Cannabis Processing, and/or an Associate’s Degree in Applied Cannabis Studies. Credit-based cannabis studies curriculum and programming will be part of the offerings of the Environmental Technology Department.
Ideal candidates will have demonstrated success in the classroom by developing and using effective teaching strategies that meet students’ diverse needs and engage students in critical thinking and problem-solving. Instructors needed for the following courses:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Designs/delivers courses to meet learning outcomes and promotes students’ active participation in their own learning. Plans, prepares, and delivers instruction and facilitates student learning.
Creates an effective learning environment that fosters students’ intellectual curiosity and helps students to problem solve using discipline-specific thinking strategies.
Employs a variety of formative and summative assessments to ensure that classroom instruction leads to student learning and the attainment of student learning outcomes for the course.
Revises and continually updates curriculum and instructional materials of an evolving industry.
Fulfills assigned course schedule, maintains accurate student attendance and grade records, maintains instructional environment with emphasis on safety, housekeeping, and equipment security, and ensures opportunities for student/participant evaluation.
Maintains involvement with business/industry/community through advisory committees, marketing and recruitment efforts, and professional associations and organizations.
Helps students reach their academic, personal, and career goals and fosters a safe environment that respects the diversity of individuals and ideas by modeling respect for all students and conveying confidence in every student’s ability to learn. Inspires, motivates, and fosters confidence in all students.
Maintains office hours for advising, mentoring, and coaching students.
Participates in department meetings and complies with department decisions regarding instructional matters.
Engages in professional development activities to maintain professional skills in the profession and improve the quality of student learning.
Contributes to and provides leadership in academic and professional communities and promotes collaboration and teamwork among members of these communities.
Posts syllabi and grades on learning management system (Brightspace).
QUALIFICATIONS
Ability and willingness to maintain and uphold the professional standards of an academic environment and adhere to City Colleges of Chicago policies.
Familiarity with and understanding of Illinois cannabis laws and regulations.
Awareness of dispensary operations and cultivation processing.
Two (2) years of teaching and/or training experience preferred.
Knowledge of a Learning Management System preferred.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate with a diverse group of students and staff required.
Experience with a diverse, multi-lingual student population desired, as is a commitment to the open access mission of the community college.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.
ENTERING THE CANNABIS INDUSTRY REQUIREMENTS
Responsible Vendor Certification.
Minimum of one (1) year experience working in the cannabis industry.
Two (2) years of teaching experience.
INTRODUCTION TO CANNABIS
