2024 Forest Stewards Youth Corps Fall Fire and Fuels Crew Leader
JOB ANNOUNCEMENT Do you like the outdoors? Are you looking for seasonal employment? Then you should apply to be a Forest Stewards Youth Corps (FSYC) Crew Leader! FSYC is a program of the Forest Stewards Guild that provides employment and job training for youth in rural communities around New Mexico. FSYC has summer and fall programs with crews based out of U.S. Forest Service Ranger Stations and Jemez Pueblo Natural Resource Department.

POSITION DETAILS
~ Position lasts from August 19th - November 8th (12 weeks) with the possibility of extension.
~ Mandatory overnight training for the weeks of August 19th and 26th.
~ Will supervise 4 Crew Members.
~ Pay rate: $19.00/hour
~ Positions open in Espanola, Mountainair, and Jemez Pueblo
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
~ Experience in a leadership position working with youth.
~ Experience performing natural resource management projects.
~ Ability to perform strenuous work outdoors for long in rough country and inclement weather.
~ Must have previous outdoor leadership hours experience.
~ Preferred candidate will be a qualified Wildland FFT2. Greater preference will be given to candidates qualified as FFT1 and/or that have previous wildland firefighting experience.
~ Excellent oral and written communication skills.
~ Ability to work independently.
~ Pass a background check.
~ Possess a valid drivers license and safe driving record
~ Must be able to pass an arduous pack test.
