Directly Manages: Golf Course maintenance personnel

Classification: Regular Full-Time

Working Hours: As Needed

Salary: $45,000 - $52,000 (Based on Experience)

The Golf Course Superintendent is one who is entrusted with the maintenance, operation and management of the golf course. It is his/her responsibility to supervise the maintenance of the golf course, supervise the maintenance and repair of construction and maintenance equipment, and to do related work as required. Specifically, the Golf Course Superintendent must:

• Supervise the mowing, watering and maintenance of tees, greens, fairways and related areas.

• Supervise the planting, fertilizing and maintenance of turf.

• Generally, supervise the operation of an equipment repair shop.

• Order supplies and materials within budgetary limitations.

• Keep records of annual maintenance activities.

• Possess thorough knowledge of the construction and maintenance of golf course tees, fairways and greens.

• Possess thorough knowledge of the maintenance of the different types of turf used on golf courses, and the planting, cultivating, pruning, and caring for plants, shrubs and trees.

• Possess thorough knowledge of the characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers and soil conditioners, herbicides and pest control methods and materials.

• Possess thorough knowledge of drainage control methods, watering and irrigation systems.

• Possess the ability to maintain tees, fairways, and greens to an acceptable standard of golf course play.

• Possess the ability to plan, assign, and direct the work of others.

• Possess the ability to prepare annual budget estimates.

• Hire, orient, and train all golf course maintenance department employees.

• Possess the ability to maintain effective employee and public relations.

• Must possess or be able to obtain a Non-Commercial Applicator License issued by the Arkansas Department of Agriculture.

• Possess a participating knowledge of the game of golf. This job description includes, but is not limited to, the duties and responsibilities noted above. The essential functions of this job description are not exhaustive and may be supplemented.

Pay: $45,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year
